Last month, I had the pleasure of photographing my niece, Asia, and her fiancé, Grayson, during their Richmond engagement session. Together, we explored three meaningful locations throughout Richmond, Virginia, each representing a different chapter of their love story. We were blessed with beautiful weather and had such a wonderful time capturing this exciting season of their lives.

Because Asia is family, this session held an especially special place in my heart. Watching her grow into the incredible woman she is today has been truly amazing, and seeing the love she and Grayson share made documenting their engagement even more meaningful. Their relationship is filled with laughter, genuine affection, and an undeniable sense of joy that made every moment in front of my camera feel effortless.

What I loved most about this engagement session was that every location represented a chapter of their story.

We began the evening at The Jasper on Cary Street – a place chosen to represent the beginning of their love story.

Rather than choosing a random location, Asia and Grayson wanted to honor where they first met. It was the perfect place to reminisce about how one chance meeting grew into the relationship they share today. I loved the whole vibe of The Jasper and we really played into bar atmosphere and had some fun!

From there, we made our way to Main Street Station, one of Richmond’s most recognizable landmarks.

Beyond its beautiful architecture, the station represented something much deeper: the journey they have shared over the years and all the places life will take them in the future. As we wandered through the station together, I loved capturing the excitement, anticipation, and quiet moments between them that spoke volumes about the life they’re building together.

Our final stop brought us to the Virginia State Capitol and its beautiful gardens.

The clean architecture, manicured grounds, and timeless atmosphere created the perfect backdrop for elegant portraits. To celebrate their engagement, we popped champagne and captured some of my favorite images of the evening.  The evening ended with a soft breeze, golden light, and timeless portraits.

One of the things I love most about engagement sessions is that they tell a story. They’re not just about beautiful portraits; they’re about preserving the places, memories, and milestones that have shaped a couple’s relationship. Asia and Grayson’s session was a beautiful reminder that the most meaningful photographs are often created in places that already hold a special place in your heart.

Asia and Grayson, thank you for allowing me to document this incredible season of your lives. It was an honor to capture these memories. Not only as your photographer but also as someone who loves you both dearly. I cannot wait to celebrate with you on your wedding day and witness the next chapter of your love story.

Congratulations to you both! May your lives together be filled with endless laughter, unforgettable adventures, and a lifetime of love.
