UNIQUE WEDDING AT THE TOBACCO COMPANY | GRACE AND DAVID

November 20, 2023

Grace and David got married a couple of weeks ago in Richmond, Virginia. The ceremony took place at Saint Benedict Catholic Church and the reception was held at The Tobacco Company. The venue is a super popular club in the RVA area that offers unique wedding options for couples who are looking to branch out from the traditional weddings. Grace and David booked this venue for just that. They wanted to have a unique wedding catered to their vision. Their reception was held in the club part of this restaurant, located in the basement.

On the day of their wedding, the weather was a gorgeous 70-degrees and was sunny. Throughout the day, I could tell that Grace was a little nervous – which is completely understandable because she’s been waiting to marry David for what feels like forever! Although she was slightly nervous, you could tell that she was so excited to be marrying her best friend. She was giddy with excitement all morning, which obviously set the mood for the entire day!

David however, was calm. He wasn’t nervous, despite me asking if he was. His response to my question was all the confirmation I needed. He excitedly told me, “There’s nothing to be nervous about – I’m marrying the perfect person!”

Their wedding was Hollywood themed. They had a vintage car that they rented, the bridesmaids all had black dresses with black gloves to match, and the groomsmen were in an older-style suit that when you put it all together, really added to Grace and David’s unique wedding vision. They wanted a more documented style approach when it came to their photographs. So while we did a couple of formals with immediate family, most of the day I was able to follow people around and capture genuine reactions and interactions among guests.

During their reception at The Tobacco Company, the DJ played a bunch of Taylor Swift songs for Grace, as she is a dedicated Swiftie fan. During “Love Story”, during the bridge, David got down on one knee (again), and pulled out a ring and presented it to Grace (the absolute CUTEST gesture!). To continue making their wedding unique, they opted for heavy hors d’oeuvres instead of a plated dinner, and as an after party, they went to a local bar to finish off the night!
